I am the fly on the wall, the person you normally don’t see. Fortunately, you can read my stories or see my photos. I bring the action, the drama, or the happiness to your attention. I gather story ideas everywhere I travel. Whether taking a walk with my family or talking to a quiet lady at the grocery store, I hunt for a good story or photo opportunity. I see the world through a perpetual lens.
To do my job you have to be interested in everyone. Each person has a story.
I have never been good at working a nine to five desk job. I cannot be confined to being stuck in one place all day long. I cannot fathom doing the same thing day in and day out for the rest of my life. I never know what the tomorrow has to offer. I could be in the thick of British Columbia’s old-growth forest, documenting the First Nations people catching salmon, or I could be in the heart of a city witnessing a disgruntled employee threatening to make a statement with a hidden bomb. I could also witness the serene beauty of icebergs in Scandinavia. I go wherever the stories direct me.
I am both an observer and an informer. Who am I?
I am the photojournalist.
